The Color Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Benj signed up to do The Color Run, a 5K down town. The whole premise of the race is that at every kilometer, each runner gets blasted with colored cornstarch. So by the end of the race, everyone is hot, sweaty, and COLORFUL! I am kind of wishing that I signed up, too. But, by the time I realized that it was more of a fun race instead of a run your guts out race, it was completely sold out. So, I was there as the loyal supporter and photographer.

Benj before the race:

A lot of people from our ward had signed up for the race and we were able to find all of them, that we knew of. (Sorry Brittney. We didn’t mean to leave you out of these pictures.)

The line up of runners before the race. You can see how packed it was. There were so many runners!

IMG_2521

I made my way to the finish line to wait for Benj. There were a lot of crazy outfits.

It was fun watching everyone cross the finish line.

They gave each runner a packet of color to throw in the air at the end of the race. You can tell by the road at the finish line:

and the colorful people:

I told Benj that he had an orange mustache and he tried to wipe it off, leaving a huge purple streak in its place.

We were able to find our friends from the ward after the race.

IMG_2556

Sabrina and Skyler pushed their daughter Gracie through the race in a stroller. I think she enjoyed herself.

The following pictures make me laugh so hard. I tried to get a picture of everyone jumping in the air, but I couldn’t quite get the timing right. The pictures I got are pretty hilarious, though.

IMG_2578

In the next few pictures, everyone jumped one at a time. I don’t think I gave a very clear signal to jump.

IMG_2585

There goes Benj!

IMG_2586

Oh, and there goes Jamie.

IMG_2591

Next is Addie! Alyson and Brittney were smart not to jump once they saw that it just wasn’t working out.

IMG_2594

This was the best one I could get, eve though some heads were chopped off. I didn’t have the best lens on for this kind of shot, but I didn’t dare change it with all the color dust flying around.

After the race, wetook a look at the Jazz and Rib festival that was going on all day.

IMG_2609

IMG_2610

There was live jazz and lots of different rib vendors. But we were so exhausted and the ribs were kind of spendy, so what do you think we did instead? I’ll give you a hint. It was Benj’s choice and he was hungry. Yup, we went to an Indian Buffet. What a fun day!!!!

Food Truck Festival

Last weekend there was a big food truck festival downtown and we decided to check it out. IMG_2496

This is the view from the parking garage across the street where we parked.

IMG_2492

As you can see the people were packed in there. And there was live music down at the white tent in the back ground.

We picked the truck with the longest line, hoping long lines equal the best food.

We shared a brisket bbq sandwich and it was tasty.

We were going to try a bunch of other things, but it was getting more and more crowded, so we decided to just find a yummy restaurant instead. But it was a blast to see all the different food trucks.

July 4th

We had a fun, festive July 4th. We started the day off by getting doughnuts at Krispy Kreme. We went with my friend Kristin, who has the family tradition to get doughnuts every July 4th. I’m liking this tradition!

Then we went to the Upper Arlington parade. Upper Arlington is one of the smaller towns within Columbus and it’s the one our house is in. Parades are funny to me. I don’t know it just seems kind of funny that tons and tons of people would gather on the streets to see little girl dance teams and little boy t ball teams ride on flat beds. Strange and wonderful at the same time.

After taking a long nap, we went to a funny movie at the dollar theatre. Pirates! Band of Misfits. It’s a silly pirate Claymation movie. And then we went to the ward BBQ in our apartment complex parking lot.

After mingling at the BBQ for a while, we took off for the Dublin Fireworks (Dublin is another little section of Columbus). We met up with my co-worker Ron, who had saved us a seat. Before the fireworks, Joe Walsh, the lead singer for the Eagles did a little concert.

During the fireworks show, there was also a lighting show going on in the distance. The second the fireworks were done, a man on the big speaker was telling us all to evacuate the place immediately because of storm warnings. Luckily the storm didn’t start in full force until we got home.

Hocking Hills

Last Saturday we ventured down to Hocking Hills, about an hour away. We went with our friends Kristin and John and explored Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls. Hocking Hills. Oh, and Benj had the camera most of the time, so most of the pictures are of me.

Can you see Benj hiding behind that tree? He is hiding because John mentioned that Benj’s red and white shirt looks like “Where’s Waldo.”
